Creating hand painted, decorative, and “batiked” individual tile, and large tile murals. Recently added giclee prints on German etching paper showing on the first section of her web site, Prints. Her goal is to create a multifaceted out door ceramic fountain. Using selected tile designs from the BatikTile work through the years, the latest addition is the collections of PaintedCharms.

Cultural and Educational Program, The Smithsonian Associates
Conceive and coordinate more than 70 auditorium-based courses/lectures per year in the Humanities, Sciences, and Visual Arts. Research, select, and routinely persuade prominent guest speakers to host Smithsonian museum events which have included internationally acclaimed dignitaries, celebrated leaders, and Nobel/Pulitzer prize winners in the Arts and Science fields. Collaborate with Smithsonian museum professionals and members of Washington’s international, diplomatic, and arts communities to research new topics and identify faculty. Manage $350,000 fiscal budget which required evaluation and approval of programs to promote healthy participation and satisfaction of up to 500 highly educated attendees per lecture. Devise budgets and manage the financial aspects of the program to ensure fiscal responsibility for the institution. Serve as visual arts consultant and advisor to the programming staff, especially to the coordinator of studio classes. Develop copy for The Associate (65,000 subscriptions) and public relations literature.

Developed, marketed, and implemented 250 visual arts courses and workshops per year within stringent budgetary constraints, which entailed recruiting faculty, writing course descriptions, and conceiving programs relating to Smithsonian museum exhibitions and collections. Projects included “Infinite Illusions: The World of Electronically Created Imagery,” a computer graphics symposium (See Awards). Directed logistics for courses, workshops, and related events, including facilities, equipment,and more than 60 instructors. Oversaw management of photography and printmaking facilities and programs. Researched new topics and identified faculty in close working relationships with museum professionals and members of Washington’s international, diplomatic, and arts communities. Hired and supervised teaching and support staff including volunteers and interns. Generated promotional materials, wrote grant requests, and met monthly newsletter publication deadlines. Our volunteers received awards for putting in the most hours of any of the other department.

Collaborated with Smithsonian curators and museum exhibit specialists to coordinate annual exhibition of student prints, a unique educational outreach program in printmaking for area public high school art students and their teachers. Promoted cooperative relations with county art supervisors and other public school administrators to facilitate public school visits to the Smithsonian. Designed teacher training programs that assisted school art teachers in using Smithsonian museums as a resource for students. Obtained funding through grants and donations. Studio was originally provided by Mrs. Davis.

Founded and developed an organization to provide consulting and management services for artists, museums, and collectors. Advised clients on artwork — its selection, care, installation, framing, display, security, promotion, and sale. Oversaw a staff providing services to clients. Directed and designed marketing strategies using media, personal contacts, projects, and direct mail. Established procedures managed office, purchased equipment, and supplies, and took charge of record keeping, filing, and computer use. Wrote letters and promotional materials for self and other artists. Curator of Etruscan exhibition undertaken by contract with government agencies and private collectors. Arranged embassy contacts and social events for artists, collectors, and art museum personnel.

Coordinated traveling art exhibitions, arranged shows in galleries and museums, selected and judged entrants, prepared promotional material for exhibiting artists, supervised sales of traveling exhibition pieces, and used state-of-the-art computer system at the time for inventory and cataloging. Organized and managed facility and oversaw framing and shipping. Served as information coordinator and arts management consultant to artists. This was a wonderful concept but not based on sound financials.

Supervised daily activities of the financially self-sustaining Hetzel Union Building “HUB Craft Centre”. Planned classes, maintained supplies for classes and the on-site supply store. Supervised the work of two part-time assistants and 26 graduate student assistants, including work-study students. Maintained budgets and teaching schedules. Hired, trained and inspired all employees and compiled personnel evaluation reports. This included an active ceramics department with kilns, glaze samples to organize and tables to keep clean. Promoted and advertised the all Art Centre’s (sic) activities.

Art Specialist for the The Russian Art Project’s Russian art auction, Designed the installation for the May 13, preview and opening, Guy Mason Center, DC, May 12, 2006 Facilitated and helped manage the auction at the International School, DC May 13, 2006. The Project was sponsored by the Russian Embassy, the Russian Cultural Center, Art Index, Publishing House, and the American Association of Russian Language, Culture and Education, funded by National Business & Accounting Consultants.
