Joanne Gigliotti
has been involved in artistic process throughout her life seeing things in her unique the way, celebrating the beauty and life’s joys in ordinary things. Most of her work has been created in medium of Batik Painting. Having used this resist method of painting working on linen and silk, then on rag board, she now batiks individual ceramic porcelain, glass tiles and tile murals. She is represented in permanent collections including The National Museum for Women in the Arts, McCormick Collection, Westinghouse Collection,The London Library. Formerly the director of The Smithsonian Associate’s Studio Arts Department, Ms. Gigliotti has shown work in over seventy one-woman and juried exhibitions across the United States. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting, Design, and Sculpture from Carnegie Mellon University and a Master of Education degree in Art from The Pennsylvania State University. She’s included in Who's Who in American Art, as well as in Who's Who in the East, as an artist and arts administrator. Currently working on, and exhibiting her work, her participation in the visual arts includes commissioned work, mentoring young and emerging artists, and teaching specialized and master classes.
