Joanne Gigliotti
has been involved in artistic process throughout her life seeing things in her unique the way, celebrating the beauty and life’s joys of ordinary things. The largest body of of her work has been created in the medium of Batik Painting. Having used this resist method of painting working on linen and silk, then on rag board, she now batiks individual ceramic, glass, for tile murals. Joanne is represented in permanent collections including The National Museum for Women in the Arts, McCormick Collection, Westinghouse Collection,The London Library. Formerly director of The Smithsonian Associate’s Studio Arts Department, she has shown work in over seventy one-person and juried exhibitions across the United States. Joanne holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting, Design, and Sculpture from Carnegie Mellon University and a Master of Education in Art from The Pennsylvania State University. She’s included in Who's Who in American Art, as well as in Who's Who in the East, as an artist and arts administrator. Currently she is painting, exhibiting her work, and creating jewelry based on her tile designs. Her participation in the visual arts includes mentoring young and emerging artists, teaching specialized and master classes, and working in the Artists in Hospitals Program. Click here for Vita.
